Somalia National Football Team
Where do I begin…I’m happy to say that David played an integral role in my college counseling journey, which ultimately led me to the University of Notre Dame. Growing up in Toronto, I always had a passion for sports, and in particular soccer, so once I knew soccer could be what helped lead me to a top academic institution, I made it a goal of mine to do everything I could to make that a reality. I first met David at Berkshire School, and right away we developed a great relationship, one I’m forever grateful for.
Fast forward a couple years, and I began getting recruited by a number of elite Division 1 NCAA programs, ranging from previous National Champions to illustrious Ivy League institutions. Coming from Canada, I had no prior knowledge of many of these universities, but thankfully, David had a wealth of experience that he was able to share with me that ultimately helped make my decision process much easier. I often found myself daunted at the idea of thoroughly examining each institution and finding out what separated them from one another, but thankfully, David dedicated hours of his time to helping me make the right decision, one that my family would be proud of.
My commitment to the University of Notre Dame would never have been possible were it not for the amount of dedication and effort David put in to help me with the application process. During my time at Notre Dame, I was a 4-time Monogram winner, 2-year captain, National Championship semi-finalist, and ACC Champion for the first time in program history. It is safe to say attending Notre Dame was the best decision of my life, and I owe a lot of that to David.
Having graduated from Notre Dame in 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Economics, I now look back on my relationship with David, filled with extreme gratitude and appreciation for all he has done for me. Not long after graduating, I fulfilled a childhood dream and was drafted in the 1st round (23rd pick) of the 2022 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids. Since then, I’ve gone on to continue my professional career, first with the Halifax Wanderers Football Club and, presently, the Indy Eleven. Moreover, I’ve since received my first senior call-up to the Somalia National Football Team, a memorable moment for my entire family and me.
